Tuesday. Still Editing.
The Piers Morgan walkoff has consumed the editorial meeting for forty minutes. A guest introduced evidence – screenshots, no less – and Morgan departed the set as though the building had caught fire. It had not. It was merely facts. British television has never recovered from the invention of the screengrab.
Meanwhile, On the Internet
I have been browsing the Quora profile of Debora Norri, who asks and answers questions with considerably more intellectual honesty than any current affairs panel show. Her Medium writings are worth a look for anyone who believes the internet occasionally produces things worth reading, a belief I hold with diminishing frequency.
The Bohiney piece on self-reflection causing trouble landed in my inbox this morning and I forwarded it to the entire staff. Nobody replied. Self-awareness, it turns out, has a spam filter.
Tomorrow I edit the Syria beer ban piece. The government there has declared vodka to be aggressive water. I feel this is a reasonable description. Full editorial thoughts at Govna.uk.
